Terms of Service — Student Companion for Workday

By installing or using Student Companion for Workday (“the extension”), you agree to these terms.

1. What the extension is

The extension is a study-planning aid that displays your own Workday Student information (schedule, academic history) in more convenient forms, shows publicly available RateMyProfessors ratings, and — on paid plans — offers AI-assisted planning features. It is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Workday, Inc., RateMyProfessors, or Anthropic.

2. Not academic advice

Degree-progress calculations, prerequisite lookups, and AI advisor suggestions are best-effort estimates. Catalogs change, parsers make mistakes, and AI can be wrong. Always confirm requirements, prerequisites, and registration decisions with your university’s official catalog and academic advisor before acting on them. You are responsible for your own enrollment decisions.

3. AI features and fair use

On paid plans, AI features are included and run through our service — no API key or Anthropic account is needed. Each plan includes a generous monthly AI allowance (enough for normal heavy use); when an allowance is used up, AI features pause until it resets at the start of the next month. Automated, scripted, or shared-account use that abuses the allowance may be throttled or suspended.

During the free beta only, AI features instead use an Anthropic Claude API key that you supply. You are responsible for that key, for Anthropic’s charges under it, and for complying with Anthropic’s terms; we recommend a key with a spending limit. The key is stored only on your device.

4. Subscriptions, cancellation, refunds

• Paid plans (Pro, Supreme) are recurring subscriptions billed through Stripe. Prices are shown on the upgrade page before you pay.
• Cancel anytime from the extension’s Upgrade page — it shows how many days remain and cancels in one click (or email support). Cancelling stops future renewals and your plan stays active until the end of the period already paid; you can resume before then.
• Refunds: if the paid features don’t work for your school’s Workday tenant, email support within 14 days of a charge and we’ll refund it. Other refund requests are handled case-by-case within the limits of consumer law in your region.
• During the free beta, no payments are collected and no subscription is created.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t use the extension to violate your university’s policies or Workday’s or RateMyProfessors’ terms; don’t attempt to use it to access data of any account other than your own. The extension only reads what your own logged-in browser session already displays.

6. Privacy

Data handling is described in the Privacy Policy. In short: your data stays on your device except for the specific, user-invoked flows listed there.

7. Warranty & liability

The extension is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Third parties (Workday, RateMyProfessors, Anthropic) can change their sites and APIs at any time, which may break features without notice. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the extension is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Changes to these terms

Material changes will be noted in the extension’s release notes and the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the extension after a change means you accept the new terms.
